DANGERS OF CONSUMING ENERGY DRINKS.

1. Increased Alertness and Insomnia
Most energy drinks contain caffeine and herbal stimulants
that stimulate the central nervous system, giving a sense of
alertness. This stimulation can cause a person who is sleepy
to wake up. However, it can also prevent a person desiring to
sleep from dozing off. In addition, the caffeine in energy
drinks blocks the effects of adenosine, a chemical in the brain
involved in sleep. This in turn activates neurons in the brain
as though there were an emergency, often preventing sleep
and causing insomnia.

2. Increased Heart Rate and Faster Heart Beat

REASONS YOU ARE STILL FAT.

1. NOT ENOUGH SLEEP
Did you ever think that all of those late nights and early
morning could contribute to weight gain? One of the
weird reasons you’re gaining weight could be due to
the fact that your body is lacking sleep. When we’re
sleep deprived, there are biochemical changes in our
body that increases hunger, stores fat or even causes
us to feel not as full after eating. There’s also the
chance that if you’re up later, you’re also snacking
later. We might not always be able to get a full night’s
sleep, but we can do our best to try to hit the sack at a
decent hour whenever we can!

2. YOU’RE STRESSED

Everyone experiences stress and in small amounts, it’s
actually good for us. However, when we’re under
constant stress, our bodies secrete cortisol, known as
the stress hormone, which can increase our appetite.
WebMD notes that in addition to increasing appetite,
cortisol, leptin and other hormones which are released
when we’re stressed, stress can slow down our
metabolism and cause weight gain in the abdominal
area.

3. YOU’RE ALWAYS MULTITASKING
In today’s fast paced world, multitasking seems like the
best way to maximize your time but it can have some
negative side effects. Health.com notes that when we
multitask, we’re not being as efficient as we think we
are. It can slow us down, we make mistakes and it can
stress us out. A study by Emory University found that
task switching actually ruins your ability to control
yourself around food. The reason being is that our
brains have to allocate resources to handle all of the
things we do in a day and if your day consists of a
series of task switching, we won’t be able to make
good decisions when it comes time to eat.

4. YOU’RE OBSESSED WITH THIN
Having a healthy role model or an ideal weight can be
great for weight loss motivation, but studies from
Tilsburg University in the Netherlands found that
surrounding yourself with photos of super fit celebrities
can actually deter you from achieving your health and
fitness goals. The more you admire a model’s super
thin waist, the less attainable it will seem and the more
likely you are to eat unhealthy foods.

5. YOUR MEDICATION
We’re usually acutely aware of side effects of
medications we take, but some things like weight gain
aren’t so obvious. If you take certain medications like
anti-depressants, anti-convulsants, migraine
medication, anti-psychotics, beta blockers, diabetes
medications, antihistamines, hormones, cancer-
fighting agents and cholesterol drugs, they might be to
blame for your recent weight gain.

6. YOU TRAVEL A LOT FOR WORK
Traveling for work can be fun but when you’re
constantly on the road, it can lead to weight gain in the
long run. A study done by the Journal of Occupational
and Environmental Medicine found that those who
travel more than 20 nights per month are 92% more
likely to gain weight. This doesn’t mean that being a
frequent flyer means you’re destined to gain weight.
Plan ahead and look for hotels that have gyms, look for
healthy eateries or cook healthy foods yourself and
always keep healthy snacks on hand.

7. You’re Low on Certain Nutrients
If your body is low on certain nutrients such as Vitamin
D, magnesium or iron, it can affect your body in a
number of ways including slowing down the
metabolism. Dr. Robert J. Hedaya of Georgetown
University Medical Center says that we often
compensate for our low energy with sugar, caffeine or
other simple carbs than can result in gaining weight.
Make certain that you’re eating well-rounded meals to
help supplement your iron and magnesium levels. If
you’re low on Vitamin D, it’s not as simple to
supplement so it’s best to consult your doctor to get
the right dosage.

FACTS ABOUT MALE CIRCUMCISION.....(FIND OUT).....

FACTS ABOUT MALE CIRCUMCISION...
The habit of performing circumcision on the male newborn is one that has been carried out through the ages. It means the removal of the male foreskin, in part or wholly so that the penis is substantially exposed. It is perhaps the most common surgical operation performed around the world and it is certainly the most common operation performed in the male newborn. It is almost universally practised in West Africa and in the Middle East. It has many faithful adherents among the great religions of Christianity and Islam.
Many of these adherents trace their practices to the time of Abraham when he was instructed to remove the fore-skin of the male offspring of his generation on the eighth day of life as a kind of covenant. Anthropologists, however, are of the opinion that the practice even predated that era with circumcision being used as a mark of the slaves in the palaces of the pharaohs. Other historians say the original practice began among the Negro population of West Africa. Whatever are the facts of the matter, circumcision is a widely practised exercise which has recently fallen into immense controversies in the affluent Western nations.

SHOCKING FACTS ABOUT THE PENIS.....(FIND OUT).....

Ladies first
All penises started out as clitorises in the womb. That’s because all babies start out as girls.

That is why a penis has a dark line on the underside: it’s called the perinea raphe or seam and it’s where the labia closed and the scrotum formed.

Smoking guns
Smoking can cause you to lose up to 1cm in penis length. Smokers also have more trouble with erectile dysfunction and experience less intense orgasms.

Use it or lose it
Regular (safe) sex and/ or masturbation is important for penile health. Think of the penis as a muscle (it’s not) that needs to be exercised for it to remain in prime condition.

Sex and masturbation keeps men and women healthy, so go for it. Just be safe...

DEMOLISION EXERCISE RENDERS LAGOSIANS HOMELESS...

Tears, agony in Lagos communities

• Hundreds now homeless as police team demolishes 1,500 houses
A four-month-old baby, said to be sleeping in one of the demolished buildings, was allegedly crushed during the sudden exercise. Residents of the area said the policemen from the Area K Command alleged that they were sent by an unidentified woman, who has since 2006 been harassing them with policemen and claiming that she bought the land for the purpose of erecting some police quarters in the area.
Mr. Afolabi Kehinde, Secretary of the Community Development Association (CDA), maintained that the policemen, who brought the bulldozers came to attack the wrong communities. He said while the communities on the letter they brought from the police bore Agemowo and Agelado, theirs were Mowo Phase 2, Atiporome Extension and Araromi Extension, adding that the communities were duly registered with the Lagos State Ministry of Physical Planning and Development. He said they also made payment for land use charges regularly to the state authorities.
Narrating what he termed illegal demolition, Afolabi said: “On Sunday, December 15, we got a notice that the Baale of Atiporome had been served with a quit notice, and that we should vacate this place immediately.
“The contents of the letter say that we encroach on the Agemowo and Agelado land but this place is not the name mentioned in the notice. We immediately contacted Hon. Afose, the representative of this constituency and he came to assure us that he would look into the matter. He said that it was a mistake on their part because before now, he had contacted the Land Bureau and the Ministry of Physical Planning on the matter. That was around 2008 when an unidentified woman sent some men to inform us that she had acquired the place to build some police quarters.
“But the day after lawmaker’s visit, we got information that about seven bulldozers had been parked at the Ika Police Station so they could be used to demolish this place. And we rushed to see the DPO of Ika Police Station but we were not allowed to see him. About 7:30 am that day, they started demolishing the houses. As at now, over 1500 houses have been demolished and over 500 people have been rendered homeless. Even as I speak to you, there are many people who have no place to go. Some have been sleeping in churches, mosques and relatives’ houses.
“Those who even have places to go do not have the money to go to those places. And there are many who could not recover anything from their demolished buildings and they don’t even have clothes to wear as I speak to you now.
