DO YOU WANT A FLAT STOMACH?

1. Almonds
Almonds contain a good amount of healthy fats — polyunsaturated and monounsaturated fats. Both fats help prevent you from overeating. A study in the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition has proven that eating almonds suppresses hunger. They also help fight against heart disease.
High in magnesium, almonds are a key component for muscle building, and having more muscle will help you burn more belly fat.
In addition, the high fiber content in almonds will keep you feeling full for a longer time. Because almonds contain few calories, they will not contribute to belly fat. So, always keep roasted almonds handy and enjoy them as a snack or in salads or other dishes.

2. Watermelon
The American Dietetic Association declares watermelon as a perfect food to reduce belly fat. Watermelon contains 91 percent water and hence acts like a natural diuretic. It will help you feel full longer and aid in the reduction of water in the body.
This juicy fruit is also rich in vitamins B1, B6 and C, as well as potassium and magnesium. It contains very little calories and is also cholesterol-free.
An interesting study done at the University of Kentucky revealed that drinking two glasses of watermelon juice every day for eight weeks reduces body weight (especially the fat around the belly) without altering muscle mass. Regular consumption of watermelon also lowers the risks associated with coronary artery plaque accumulation and heart disease.

3. Beans
Regular consumption of different types of beans helps reduce body fat, develop muscles and improve the digestion process. Beans also help you feel full for a longer time, thus keeping you from overeating.
This happens as beans are an excellent source of soluble fiber. This fiber especially targets belly fat, helping to break it down so the fat can be eliminated from the body. Plus, the protein in beans provides energy to your body. You can easily include beans in your daily meals by adding them to salads, soups or side dishes.

4. Celery
To get a flat tummy, fill your plate with green leafy vegetables like celery. Celery is extremely low in calories, full of fiber, and contains calcium and vitamin C that aid in weight loss.
You can drink half a glass of celery juice before eating your lunch or dinner to help cleanse your system. You can also add celery to salad or soup. An additional benefit of celery is that it contains apigenin, a natural compound that reduces the risk of ovarian cancer in women.

5. Cucumbers
Cucumbers are an extremely refreshing and low-calorie food. 100 grams of cucumber contains approximately 96 percent water and only about 45 calories. They are packed with minerals, dietary fibers and vitamins.
Eating a plate of cucumber salad daily is an effective and healthy way to cleanse your body of harmful toxins released by the digestive system and lose weight. As an added benefit, eating cucumbers daily can give you radiant, glowing skin because they are rich in vitamins B and C.

6. Tomatoes
One large tomato has just 33 calories. It contains a compound known as 9-oxo-ODA that helps reduce lipids in the blood, which in turn helps control belly fat. This compound also fights chronic diseases associated with obesity.
Plus, the powerful antioxidant lycopene in tomatoes offers plenty of additional health benefits like reducing wrinkles, fighting cancer and reducing cholesterol levels. Tomatoes are an excellent source of nutrients like iron and potassium and are rich in vitamins A and C. So, to enjoy a healthy body, include tomatoes (in both raw and cooked form) in your daily diet.

7. Avocado
An important amino acid known as lecithin in avocado helps in managing body weight. Also a source of good fats—monounsaturated and polyunsaturated fats, avocado helps burn belly fat easily.
Its rich fiber content also helps keep hunger at bay and keep you from overeating. Plus, avocado has anti-aging, antifungal and antibacterial properties that provide many beauty and health benefits.

8. Apples
Apples are high in dietary fiber, flavonoids, phytosterol and beta-carotene, which make your belly feel full and help you avoid overeating. According to a Brazilian study, women who ate three or more apples a day lost more weight compared with those who did not.
The natural compound in apples known as pectin aids in weight loss. Fruits rich in pectin usually require more chewing and when the pectin dissolves in the stomach, it forms a gel-like substance that traps dietary cholesterol and fat. In addition, pectin also reduces the risk of colon cancer, and the antioxidants and vitamin C in apples will help keep your skin wrinkle-free.

9. Pineapple
This tropical fruit contains the enzyme bromelain, which has anti-inflammatory properties. This enzyme metabolizes protein that contributes to a flatter tummy.
A study done at the University of Maryland revealed that bromelain’s antibacterial properties also help combat the bacteria that causes diarrhea and is also very effective in healing bowel disorders. Relief from stomach conditions can result in less abdominal bloating and a slimmer waistline.
Plus, pineapple contains vitamins B-6 and C, manganese, thiamine, copper, and fiber that provide a number of health benefits.

NOTE:
With these superfoods, you can fight that belly fat and enjoy a slimmer waistline. However, these foods will only play a major role in attaining a better figure when coupled with regular exercise.

SEE HOW YOUR TONGUE COLOUR AFFECTS YOUR HEALTH...

Your tongue has more to say about your health than you
may realize.
"Stick out your tongue and say 'ahhh'" has become
inarguably connected with a visit to the doctor's office, but
have you ever wondered what they are looking for while
peering deep inside your mouth? Just one glance your
tongue can tell your doctor plenty of what's going on in
your body, but for the rest of us non-doctors whatever our
tongues are trying to say about our health is a mystery.
Lucky for you, we here at Medical Daily compiled a quick
list of some of the most common tongue characteristics and
what they may or may not mean.

#A_Dark_Tongue
Our tongues naturally have a pleasant, pink coloring. When
your tongue begins to darken in color, this is indicative of
bodily changes. The ancient Chinese had tongue diagnosis
down to an art, believing that each tongue coloring
coincided with an internal ailment. Even in modern
medicine, doctors continue to regard tongue colorings as
an initial sign of certain health conditions.
A dark tongue may be caused by something as simple and
harmless as taking a new medicine or the addition of a new
food into your diet. A black, hairy tongue (yes, this is a real
medical term) is a temporary harmless condition that
causes your tongue to look, well, black and hairy. It's
caused by a buildup of dead cells on the surface of your
tongue. Other than bad breath and a strange taste in your
mouth, "black, hairy tongue" isn’t a serious health
condition and usually clears up on its own. Poor oral
hygiene, medication, such as Pepto-bismal, and tabacco
use are all known to cause black, hairy tongue.
Brown spots on your tongue may look less frightening than
black hairy toungue, but they’re not. Unlike black hairy
tongue, brown spots could be a sign of something much
more serious, such as melanoma . Early detection and
treatment is extremely important, especially since this form
of cancer commonly spreads to other parts of the body. At
the first sign of a darker patch on your tongue, seek medical
advice, smoking tobacco can cause one to develop black hairy
tongue.

#Dark_Spots_on_tongue
Something as simple as burning your tongue on a cup of
hot tea can cause spots to appear. Minor tongue burns , like
burns on other parts of the body, will go away on their own.
A large majority of people will develop mouth ulcers, also
known as canker sores , on their tongues at some point in
their lives These sores may also appear throughout the
inside of the lips and cheek. The sores are often round or
oval and have a white or yellow center with a red border,
according to the Mayo Clinic. The exact cause of canker
sores is not fully understood, but they are known to occur
during times of stress or following oral trauma such as
surgery. Canker sores are also associated with certain
conditions such as celiac disease and Crohn’s disease.
Burning your tongue will can cause small spots to appear.
Leukoplakia are thick raised lesions that appear on the
tongue. They can appear white or gray in color and are
caused by minor irritation to the mucous membrane.
Dentures and tobacco use are common causes for the
sores, but people with weakened immune systems are
especially prone to developing leukoplakia. The sores are
usually harmless, but sometimes they may show early
signs of cancer. Advise is that it’s best to see a dentist whenever you notice the growth of leukoplakia.

#Patchy_tongue
Oral thrush , or a yeast infection of the tongue, can cause
the tongue to take on a white, patchy-like appeareance. It
is caused by an infection of the fungus Candida albicans.
Although most common in infants, the condition can occur
in people of all ages. When on the tongue, thrush is not
considered serious and is usally easily treated. If the
infection spreads to other parts of the body, such as the
esophagus or stomach, it may become more severe .
Geographic tongue earns its name from the map-like
appearance it causes to the tongue to develop. Patches of
an individual’s papillae (the tongue’s hair), go missing and
create smooth red “islands” on the tongue with slightly
raised borders. These “islands” will often heal and then
reappear on a different part of the tongue. The condition can
cause slight discomfort but is otherwise harmless.
Currently, there is no known cause for geographic tongue ,
although doctors suspect it's related to the chronic skin
condition, psoriasis. Some people also have a family
history of geogrpahic tongue, so it is believed there is a
genetic factor to the condition.

TREATMENTS FOR TUBERCULOSIS.....(READ).

Tuberculosis (TB) is a respiratory infection caused by bacteria called ‘Mycobacterium tuberculosis’. This is a highly contagious disease with a high risk of fatality. Though TB is primarily a pulmonary infection, it can affect other organs of the body. The bacteria can remain dormant in the body of the infected person for years without causing any symptoms of the disease.  Repeated or prolonged exposure to the bacteria increases the risk of tuberculosis. The main symptom of this disease includes persistent coughing, fatigue, shortness of breath or labored breathing, night sweats, fever, chest pain etc.  The disease cause tissue death of the infected organ and is fatal. Proper medical treatment will help to remove the bacteria from the body. There are many home remedies that can help to treat the problem in the natural way. These remedies can be used as a complimentary treatment along with conventional medicines.  Here are some of the important home remedies for tuberculosis. Home Remedies For Tuberculosis:

DANGEROUS ANTIBIOTICS...(READ)...

These risks are now well-known, but I want to lay out a new concern: that antibiotic use over the years has been depleting the pool of our friendly bacteria -- in each of us -- and this is lowering our resistance to infections. In today's hyperconnected globe, that means that we are at high risk of future plagues that could spread without natural boundaries from person to person and that we could not stop. I call this "antibiotic winter."
In the early 1950's, scientists conducted experiments to determine whether our resident microbes -- the huge number of bacteria that live in and on our bodies, now called our "microbiome" -- help in fending off invading bacteria. They fed mice a species of a typical invader, disease-causing salmonella. It took about 100,000 organisms to infect half of the normal mice. But when they first gave mice an antibiotic, which kills both good and bad bacteria, and then several days later gave them salmonella, it took only three organisms to infect them. This isn't a 10 or 20% difference; it's  a 30,000-fold difference.

THESE ARE WHY YOU CAN'T SLEEP.

1: Be happy and content
People who sleep peacefully at night, are more happier
and content in life, compared to insomniacs who are
more likely to turn to suicide, alcoholism and
depression.
2: Maintain a strong immune system.
Lack of proper sleep can damage your immunity,
making you more prone to various diseases like cough,
cold and flu.
3: Prevent type 2 diabetes
Losing sleep makes you more prone to insulin
resistance and increases your chances of
developing diabetes at a later age.
4: Lose weight and stay slim
Lack of sleep causes your hormones to go haywire,
increasing your cravings for junk food that makes you
unfit and unhealthy. So, a goodnight’s sleep will help
you lose weight and stay slim and healthy.
5: Keep your thinking sharp
Sleep deprivation for even one night can interfere with
your concentration, job performance and memory. So, if
you want to have good concentration during the day,
make sure you sleep well at night.
6: Slows down the ageing process
Insomnia causes your hormones to behave like those
of a much older person. A goodnight’s sleep will help
you slow down the ageing process.

EFFECT OF CHRONIC STRESS IN ADULT LIFE.

In recent years, behavioral neuroscientists have debated the
meaning and significance of a plethora of independently conducted
experiments seeking to establish the impact of chronic, early-life
stress upon behavior - both at the time that stress is experienced,
and upon the same individuals later in life, during adulthood.

SMART PHONE LIGHT CAUSES EYE DAMAGE.

Opticians say people are so addicted to smartphones they may be increasing their risk of eye damage.
They are warning exposure to lights from phones and other devices like computers, tablets, and flat screen TVs can lead to long term damage.
It comes as a survey of 2,000 people suggests under 25s check their phones thirty-two times a day.
Optician Andy Hepworth said: "Blue violet light is potentially hazardous and toxic to the back of your eyes.
"So over a long period of time it can potentially damage your eyes.
"When you're looking at a smart phone, the light peaking out of that is blue violet."
He says tests have found that over exposure to blue-violet light has the potential to put us at greater risk of macular degeneration, a leading cause of blindness.
Opticians say that, although "good" blue light (blue-turquoise) is needed to help regulate biological clocks, it is also thought that extensive exposure to blue violet light can disrupting sleep patterns and affect moods.
"Although we don't know if there's a direct link with it creating eye problems, there is strong lab evidence it can potentially do that," Andy added.
"It's the combination of not blinking enough and bringing the device closer than you normally look at objects - it strains your eyes."
'More headaches'
The survey found that on average, an adult spends nearly seven hours a day staring at a screen with nearly half feeling anxious when away from their phone.
Statistics also suggest 43% of under 25s experience genuine irritation or anxiety when they can't check their phone when they want.
Also found 55% felt the amount of screen time they're exposed to affects them with eye discomfort the main problem.
Eighteen-year-old Alana Chinery from Essex is never without her smart phone.
She said: "I've definitely noticed that my eyes are getting worse from staring at my computer and phone.
"I am getting more headaches."
Amanda Saint, who is also an optician, says the advice is simple.
"Get your eyes tested regularly and take regular breaks from your computer and hand held device."

LEARN EVERYTHING ABOUT DEHYDRATION.

What is Dehydration?

Dehydration takes place when your body loses more fluid
than you drink. The most common cause of water loss
from the body is excessive sweating.
The suggested amount of water to drink is eight to 10
glasses per day for an average, non-active person.
Individuals on the go, athletes, and people exposed to
high temperatures should increase their water intake to
avoid dehydration.
When too much water is lost from the body, the organs,
cells, and tissues fail to function as they should, which
can lead to dangerous complications. If dehydration isn’t
corrected immediately, it could cause shock. Dehydration
can be mild or severe. Mild dehydration can usually be
treated at home, whereas severe dehydration has to be
treated in a hospital or emergency care setting.
Dehydration Risk Factors

Athletes exposed to direct sun aren’t the only ones at risk
for dehydration. In fact, body builders and swimmers are
among the athletes that most commonly develop the
condition. This is because in these sports, drinking is
discouraged during training sessions or before
competitions, which can cause self-induced dehydration.
And, strange as it may seem, it is possible to sweat in
water . Swimmers lose a lot of sweat when swimming.
Some people are at a higher risk of developing
dehydration than others, including:
workers exposed to excessive amounts of heat (for
example, welders, landscapers, construction
workers, and mechanics)
seniors individuals with chronic illnesses
athletes (especially runners, cyclists, and soccer
players) infants and young children and
people who reside in high altitudes

How Does Dehydration Develop?
Your body regularly loses water through sweating and
urination. If the water is not replaced, you become
dehydrated. Dehydration is caused by any situation or
condition that causes the body to lose more water than
usual.

Sweating
Sweating is part of your body’s natural cooling process.
When you become hot, your sweat glands activate to
release moisture from your body in an attempt to cool it
off. The way this works is by evaporation. As a drop of
sweat evaporates from your skin, it takes a small amount
of heat with it. The more sweat you produce, the more
evaporation there is, and the more you are cooled off.
Sweating also hydrates your skin and maintains the
balance of electrolytes in your body. The fluid you sweat
is composed mainly of salt and water. Excessive
sweating can cause dehydration since you lose a large
amount of water. The technical term for excessive
sweating is hyperhidrosis.

Illness
Illnesses that cause continuous vomiting or diarrhea can
result in dehydration. This is because vomiting and
diarrhea can cause too much water to be expelled from
your body. Important electrolytes are also lost through
these processes. Electrolytes are minerals used by the
body to control the muscles, blood chemistry, and organ
processes. These electrolytes are found in blood, urine,
and other fluids in the body. Vomiting or diarrhea can
impair these functions and cause severe complications
such as stroke and coma.

Fever
If you have a fever, your body loses fluid through your
skin’s surface in an attempt to lower your temperature.
Often, fever can cause you to sweat so much that if you
don’t drink to replenish, you could end up dehydrated.

Urination
Urination is the body’s normal way to release toxins from
your body. Some conditions can cause chemical
imbalances, which can increase your urine output. If you
don’t replace the fluid lost through excessive urination,
you run the risk of developing dehydration.
What Are the Symptoms of Dehydration?
The symptoms of dehydration differ depending on
whether the condition is mild or severe. Symptoms of
dehydration may begin to appear before total dehydration
takes place.

Symptoms of mild to moderate dehydration include
sleepiness
dry mouth
increased thirst
decreased urination
less tear production
dry skin
constipation
dizziness
lightheadedness
headache
constipation
In addition to the symptoms of mild dehydration, severe
dehydration is likely to cause the following:
excessive thirst
lack of sweat production
low blood pressure
rapid heart rate
rapid breathing
fever
sunken eyes
shriveled skin
dark urine

Symptoms of severe dehydration are a real medical
emergency and should be treated by a medical
professional immediately.

Medical Emergency
Children and seniors should be treated immediately, even
if they are experiencing symptoms of mild dehydration.
However, if a person in any age group develops the
following symptoms, seek emergency care:
severe diarrhea
blood in the stool
diarrhea for three or more days
inability to keep fluids down
disorientation

How Is Dehydration Diagnosed?
Before beginning any tests, your doctor will go over any
symptoms you have to rule out other conditions. After
taking your medical history, the doctor will check your
vital signs, including your heart rate and blood pressure.
Low blood pressure and rapid heart rate will indicate
dehydration.
A blood test may be used to check the level of
electrolytes, which can help indicate fluid loss. A blood
test may also be used to check your body’s level of
creatinine. This helps the doctor determine how well your
kidneys are functioning.
A urinalysis is an exam that uses a sample of urine to
check for the presence of bacteria and electrolyte loss.
The doctor can also check for dehydration by checking
the color of your urine.

Strategies to Treat Dehydration
Treatments for dehydration include rehydrating methods,
electrolyte replacement, and treating diarrhea or vomiting,
if needed.

Rehydration
Rehydration methods include fluid replacement by
drinking or IV. Drinking may not be possible for people
suffering from diarrhea or vomiting, so fluids will be
given intravenously. To do this, the doctor inserts a small
IV tube in a vein in the arm. The solution provided
through the IV is often a mix of water and electrolytes.
For those able to drink, the doctor will suggest drinking
water along with an electrolyte-containing rehydration
drink such as Gatorade (or a similar sports drink).
Children with dehydration are often directed to drink

Pedialyte.
Homemade Rehydration Solution
If Gatorade isn’t available, you can make your own
rehydration solution using
½ teaspoon salt
6 teaspoons of sugar
1 liter of water
Be absolutely certain that you are using an accurate
measurement. Using too much salt or sugar can be
dangerous.

Things to Avoid
Do not treat yourself by drinking soda, overly sweet
drinks, or caffeine. These drinks can worsen dehydration.
Potential Complications of Untreated Dehydration
Untreated dehydration can lead to life-threatening
complications such as
heat exhaustion
heat cramps
heatstroke
seizures (due to electrolyte loss)
low blood volume
kidney failure
coma

How Can I Prevent Dehydration?
If you’re ill, increase your fluid intake, especially if you
are vomiting or having diarrhea constantly. If you cannot
hold down liquids, consult your doctor.
If you’re going to exercise or play sports, drink 1 to 3
cups of water before beginning. At regular intervals
during the workout, replace your fluids.
Dress cool in hot months and avoid being out in direct
heat if you can avoid it.
Even if you aren’t active, drink the recommended amount
of fluids.

HOW SLEEP ABSENCE CAUSES BRAIN DAMAGE...

Cramming in extra hours of shut-eye may not make up for those lost pulling all-nighters, new research indicates.

The widely held idea that you can pay back a sizeable "sleep debt" with long naps later on seems to be a myth.

Long-term sleep deprivation saps the brain of power even after days of recovery sleep. And that could be a sign of lasting brain injury.

They let them snooze, then woke them up for short periods and for long ones.
hen the scientists looked at their brains -- more specifically, at a bundle of nerve cells they say is associated with alertness and cognitive function, the locus coeruleus.

They found damage and lots of it.

The mice lose 25% of these neurons.

This is how the scientists think it happened.

When the mice lost a little sleep, nerve cells reacted by making more of a protein, called sirtuin type 3, to energize and protect them.

But when losing sleep became a habit, that reaction shut down. After just a few days of "shift work" sleep, the cells start dying off at an accelerated pace.

The discovery that long-term sleep loss can result in a loss of brain cells is a first.

"No one really thought that the brain could be irreversibly injured from sleep loss,"

They hope their research will result in medicines that will help people working odd hours cope with the consequences of irregular sleep.

HOW YOUR URINE COLOUR EXPLAINS YOUR HEALTH...

Every time you urinate, you have the chance to learn something
about yourself — from how hydrated you are to whether some of
your vital organs may be showing signs of dysfunction.
Many shifts in urine colour can be explained simply by how
hydrated your body is at any given moment.
“A lot of changes simply come from the state of hydration, which
is affected by a whole bunch of things you’re doing,“The various shades of yellow to white to dark can just be a
sign of how much fluid you are taking in, versus how much you’re
putting out.”

UNIVERSITY OF PORTHARCOURT IS ON STRIKE...

The supervising Minister of Education, Nyesom Wike has
criticised members of the Academic Staff Union of
Universities, ASUU, University of Port Harcourt chapter for stopping lectures in the school.
The lecturers claimed that the suspension of lectures is due to federal government reluctant nature to honour agreements.
Students of the University were all stranded Monday morning
on getting to campus as some of them were chased out of
their classrooms by some angry lecturers.
Chairperson of the UNIPORT Chapter of ASUU, Prof. Anthonia
Okerengwo said that the university teachers decided to go on this strike because the Federal Government was yet to pay
them their February salaries and allowances.
Okerengwo said other Universities in the South-South region
had all received their allowances for last month, while that of
UNIPORT was yet to be reconciled.
The minister of education Nyesome Wike at a town hall meeting held at the University of
Port Harcourt said the lecturers were not supposed to embark
on strike simply because of their February payment.
The Minister called for a meeting with the chapter officials of
ASUU in an attempt to end the misunderstanding.
In the meantime, authorities of the institution explained that
the reason for the delay in the payment was not intentional.
Spokesperson of the University, William Wonodi said the
institution was taking the biometric of all staff of the
university, a process which he said caused the delay in
payment.

TIPS ON HOW MENTHOL ADDICTION CAN YIELD TO SMOKING...

Menthol, the cooling agent in peppermint, is added to almost all
commercially available cigarettes. Menthol stimulates olfactory
sensations, and interacts with transient receptor potential
melastatin 8 (TRPM8) ion channels in cold-sensitive sensory
neurons, and transient receptor potential ankyrin 1 (TRPA1), an
irritant-sensing channel. It is highly controversial whether
menthol in cigarette smoke exerts pharmacological actions
affecting smoking behavior.

DANGEROUS CHEMICALS FOUND IN ENERGY DRINKS AND THEIR FUNCTIONS IN THE BODY...

Here are some of the ingredients you may find in popular energy
drinks and what they do in the body:
Ephedrine - A stimulant that works on the central nervous
system. It is a common ingredient in weight-loss products and
decongestants, but there have been concerns about its effects on
the heart.

7 TIPS THAT CAN AFFECT SPERM QUANTITY...

You probably know about some of the biggies like smoking,
alcohol, illicit drug use or hot tubs impairing a man’s fertility but
here are a few things you may not know about:
1.  Morning sex = higher sperm count: If you are trying to
conceive, time intercourse when his sperm count is at its highest.
Researchers have found that men generally have a higher sperm
count in the mornings.  Men’s sexual interest may be higher in the
mornings as well.

EFFECT OF VITAMIN C AND VITAMIN E ON MUSCLES DURING EXERCISE...

Research has shown that consuming some types of
vitamin supplements like C and E may reduce the performance of
muscles during exercise.
This research monitored some 54 participants who were given either
100mg of vitamin C plus 235mg vitamin E or a sugar pill during an
11-week trial.
During the supplementation, the participated young men and
women had an endurance-training program performed three to
four sessions a week.
While the researchers observed them through blood samples and
muscle biopsies before and after interventions, they found some
developing differences inside the muscle.
As each muscle cell contains lots of tiny mitochondria which
benefits the muscle cell its energy, taking the supplements caused
producing fewer extra mitochondria to cope with the increasing
demands placed on the muscle.
"Results show that vitamin C and E supplements blunted the
endurance-training-induced increase of mitochondrial proteins,
which are needed to improve muscular endurance,"
"Results indicate that high dosages of vitamin C and E, as
commonly found in supplements, should be used with caution,
especially if you are undertaking endurance training,"
The new study is contrary to a previous research that suggested
the benefits of vitamin C supplements for exercise.
The study claimed that a daily supplement of 500mg of vitamin C
could be associated with an average 11 fewer heart beats during
exercise.

HOW ALZHEIMER'S DISEASE CAN BE DETECTED WITH BLOOD TEST...

Alzheimer's diseases can be defined as the cancer of the axon in the brain that causes aging, forgetfulness, weakness, apathy, paralysis in advance stage and finally death.
In a first-of-its-kind study, researchers have developed a
blood test for Alzheimer's disease that predicts with astonishing
accuracy whether a healthy person will develop the disease.
Though much work still needs to be done, it is hoped the test will
someday be available in doctors' offices, since the only methods
for predicting Alzheimer's right now, such as PET scans and spinal
taps, are expensive, impractical, often unreliable and sometimes
risky.

EXCESS PROTEIN RICH DIET IS AS BAD AS SMOKING...

Eating too much protein could be as dangerous as smoking for
middle-aged people.
This research which tracked
thousands of adults for nearly 20 years found that people who eat
a diet rich in animal protein are four times more likely to die of
cancer than someone with a low protein diet.
The risk is nearly as high as the danger of developing cancer by
smoking 20 cigarettes each day.
Its evident that a high-protein diet –
particularly if the proteins are derived from animals – is nearly as
bad as smoking for your health.
The research found that people with a high protein diet were 74 per
cent more likely to die of any cause within the study period than
their low-protein counterparts.
“The research shows that a low-protein diet in middle age is
useful for preventing cancer and overall mortality".
As well as red meat, dairy products high in protein are also
dangerous, the researchers said, suggesting chicken, fish, pulses,
vegetables, nuts and grain are healthier sources of protein.
Research have shown a link between cancer and red meat,
but it is the first time research has measured the risk of death
caused by regularly eating too much protein.
Protein controls the growth hormone IGF-I, which helps bodies
grow but has been linked to cancer susceptibility.
