APPLE SET TO ACQUIRE THE BEAT BY DRE HEADSET...(READ)...

Technology giant Apple is in talks to buy headphone maker and music-streaming service provider Beats Electronics, according to various media reports.
The reports claim Apple could pay as much as $3.2bn (£1.9bn) and a deal could be announced next week.
If completed, it will be Apple's biggest ever acquisition.
It is being seen as a move by Apple to get a stronger foothold in the phone and music accessories business and bolster its online music offerings.
The two areas are expected to see fast growth in the coming years.
The Financial Times, which was the first to report the talks, cited a source as saying the firms were still negotiating the details.

FACEBOOK LAUNCHES FRIEND TRACKING APP.

Your phone always knows where you are. And now, if you want, your Facebook friends will always know where you are, too.
Facebook is introducing a mobile feature called Nearby Friends that taps into that steady stream of location information so friends can track each other in real time.
The idea is to make it easy for people to meet up in real life, so they can have conversations in person instead of comment threads, temporarily replacing Likes and LOLs with eye contact and actual laughter. A live meet-up is also an excellent opportunity to grab a selfie with your pal and upload it to the Facebook owned Instagram.
In a refreshing change, the new Nearby Friends feature is not turned on by default.

MYSTERIES OF THE BLOOD MOON.

In the wee hours of Tuesday (April 15) morning, the moon slid
into Earth’s shadow, casting a reddish hue on the moon. There
are about two lunar eclipses per year, according to NASA, but
what’s unusual this time around is that there will be four blood
moons within 18 months — astronomers call that a tetrad —
and all of them occur during Jewish holidays.
A string of books have been published surrounding the event,
with authors referring to a Bible passage that refers to the
moon turning into blood. “The sun shall be turned into
darkness, and the moon into blood, before the great and
terrible day of the Lord,” Joel 2:31 says.

TIPS ON HOW PHONE WORKS IN A PLANE

The lack of phone calls, texts or social media postings from missing Malaysia Airlines Flight 370 has raised a number of questions about how cell phones work on airplanes. A U.S. official said that a cell tower in Penang, Malaysia, detected the co-pilot's cell phone searching for service before the flight vanished.
Here's a quick primer on how and when phones can make a connection from the air:
How high in the air can a cell phone work?
Despite the urgings of flight crews to turn off all phones or put them in airplane mode, cell phones can continue to work after a plane takes off, but only while in range of a cellular tower.

TURKEY FINALLY LIFT THEIR NATIONWIDE BAN ON TWITTER.

Turkey lifted a much-criticised block on Twitter
on Thursday, 24 hours after its highest court had overturned the
ban as a breach of the right to free speech.
Premier Recep Tayyip Erdogan on March 20 shuttered access to
the social media site after it had been used to spread a torrent of
anonymous leaks implicating his inner circle in corruption.

GOOGLE ANDROID SMART WATCH NOW AVAILABLE...

Google is ready to try its hand at smartwatches with its "Android Wear" initiative.

Partnering with manufacturers, chip makers, and fashion brands, Google is planning a full scale roll-out of smartwatches in the near future. Google built a version of its Android operating system specifically for watches, with the hope that it will achieve success similar to Android for smartphones.

Conceptually, the Android Wear software looks like an extension of the software that Google built for Glass, Google's smart glasses released a year ago.

Android Wear will deliver notifications to the watch without you having to dig around too much for them. It will also respond to voice commands. Both are things Google is already pretty good at.

But Android Wear promises to take things one step further when it comes to contextual awareness: It won't just alert you to texts and emails or navigate you in the right direction, which some wearables already do. A conceptual video made by Google shows and Android Wear watch providing a woman with her airline boarding pass when she arrives at the gate and a jellyfish warning for surfers just before they get their boards out of a truck.

This approach to software is a promising move for Google and for wearables in general. Also encouraging is that it seems like Google isn't trying to replicate smartphone features on a smaller device. Instead, Android Wear apps will identify the specific features that might work better on your wrist.

One of the great pitfalls of Samsung's Galaxy Gear watch is how much tapping and swiping you had to do to even get the most basic information. If Android Wear can cut down on the amount we have to interact with our wearables, that could be a huge success story.

Motorola announced Thursday that it will release a "Moto 360" smartwatch powered by Android Wear in the summer. Google also partnered with Asus, HTC, LG, Samsung, Intel, Qualcomm and Fossil among others to release smartwatches later this year.

This initial wave of planned smartwatches is sticking to the traditional watch metaphor for wearable devices. Disappointingly, the watch concept isn't nearly as futuristic as its software counterpart.

Traditional watches are pragmatic, though: They can be built and sold to the masses right now at an attainable price, and the average user will be more likely to want and understand a traditional watch than some sort of a display that curves around the wrist.

Still, we'll still be wearing nerd-squares and circles on our wrists. Hopefully this is an aspect that evolves over time.

It won't be until these devices hit store shelves that we'll see if Android Wear can overcome many of the problems maligning current smartwatches. But Google's head is clearly in the right place. At the very least, that's encouraging.
