Angry crowd yesterday attempted to set a building on Fashola Street, Ejigbo, ablaze, where one of its occupants was alleged to have
beaten his two year old son to death.
The suspect, identified as Oni Mama, a commercial
motorcyclist, was alleged to have secretly buried the
remains of his son around the area.
Apparently hungry, was seen
crying and chasing his father who was about moving
out on his motorcycle, last Friday.
Out of anger, his father was said to have dragged him
inside and allegedly hit him several times until he died.
Report said Oni Mama was later seen carrying a sack
dripping with blood out of the building, consequent
upon which curious tenants alerted policemen at
Ejigbo.
The suspect’s wife abandoned
him few months ago for another man in the same
Orilowo Ejigbo area.
Since then, the child was reportedly left in the care of
any available neigbour, while his father went out to
work.
Policemen at Ejigbo Division were said to have visited
Oni Mama’s one room apartment and conducted a
search. But their findings could not be ascertained.
They were, however, said to still be on the look out for
the suspect whose whereabouts was unknown at press
time.
Some of the tenants were said to have been taken to the
station, where their statements were taken.
One of them reportedly said that the fleeing suspect
was in the habit of beating his son, threatening that
even if he killed him no one would do anything to him.
