WOMAN DETAINED IN HOSPITAL FOR N723,100.00 AFTER GIVING BIRTH TO TRIPLET...

A new mother is presently being detained alongside her newborn three babies in a hospital (name withheld) in Asaba, the Delta State Capital after failing to pay N723,100.00 (Seven hundred and twenty-three thousand one hundred naira) medical bill.
The mother, Mrs. Echenim, a graduate of Ambrose Alli University, Ekpoma in Edo State delivered a triplets at the hospital in July, and is held there owing to her family’s inability to pay the N723 thousand medical bill.
Information at hand shows that the new mother supposed to be discharged since July but she was barred from leaving the ward after her husband could not settle the bill.
The triplets’ father, Mr. Godswill Echenim, told newsmen that he took his wife to the private clinic (name withheld) due to the prolong strike by doctors under the aegis of Nigerian Medical Association (NMA) in public hospitals.
Echenim, a fashion designer in Owa-Alero in Ika North East Local Government Area of the state, said the medical bill was too much for his family to bear and appealed to the government and good spirited individuals to come to his aid.
“For about seven weeks, since the kids were delivered, we have been in this hospital. I had registered my wife for ante-natal at the Federal Medical Centre (FMC), Asaba, but because of the strike by doctors, I brought her here for the delivery.
“The kids were delivered through caesarean section and were taken to the incubator where they spent over one month before their discharge. Now, the bill has come up to N723,100.00 and still running because we are still here.
“So, I am appealing to the government and the general public for help, so that I can bring up the babies in the way of God. We have spent over N60,000 on the nurse who was taking care of the babies at night.
“I have started buying food for them and they take a tin of food for three days. We buy pampers for N1,500.00, which lasts for just three days.
“This is besides the drugs we have been buying. It is just too much for us, we need help from the public,” Echenim said.
He said the triplets were his first set of children since he got married over five years ago, adding that his wife had remained jobless after her graduation from Ambrose Alli University, Ekpoma in Edo State.

The wedding was hastily organised by village elders after a local guru led Mangli's parents to believe that the teenager possessed ill-luck and that marrying a man would bring destruction to the family and her community.

PASTOR CHRIS OYAKHILOME DENIES DIVORCE RUMOUR WITH WIFE ANITA...READ MORE)...

Though not denying the growing divorce scandal surrounding him, the head pastor of Christ Embassy Church, Pastor Chris Oyakhilome, has threatened legal recourse against journalists publishing stories about him and his wife, Anita's divorce.
Hew spoke through his lawyer, Mr. Kemi Pinheiro (SAN), called the accusations of adultery a "false and malicious" attack against him and the church.
“The attention of our client, Rev. Chris Oyakhilome, and the church has been drawn to the wave of false, malicious and fabricated stories being published in the print and electronic media about his person, the church and a matrimonial cause between him and his wife," his attorney stated.
Sharply criticizing the recent coverage of the divorce proceedings, which the statement did not refute, the release claimed that publishers went so far as to fabricate claims that he had committed adultery against his wife, Anita.
These contradict her claims that the leader of Christ Embassy Church had indeed been unfaithful during their "terribly degenerated" marriage, something she disclosed through counsel to Premium Times earlier Wednesday.
Characterizing the media's coverage of his wife's efforts to divorce him as “complete distortion of the facts in the pending proceedings in the United Kingdom”, the statement cited the coverage as "selfishly motivated" for political and financial advantage.
Oyakhilome's counsel further said the media's coverage was engineered to bring him and the church shame and ridicule, though his wife was the person who aired the allegations against him. Earlier today, Wednesday, Mrs. Oyakhilome even told Premium Times, through counsel, that the marriage had "terribly degenerated".
The statement also acknowledged freedom of the press, but quite contradictorily cautioned that further action will be taken to safeguard the image of the church and the pastor if coverage continued.
"Be warned therefore that unless the concerned media houses desist from further publishing words and stories which are false and damaging of our client’s reputation and the church, we shall, without further recourse to the concerned publishers, promptly embark on appropriate legal machinery with a view to protecting our client’s reputation and that of the church."

NIGERIA LAUNCH NEW MASTER CARD eID CARD...(SEE PHOTO)...

The Nigerian Identity Management Commission (NIMC) has begun the issuance of 13 million MasterCard-branded National eID cards, with President Goodluck Jonathan the first to receive his card.
According to the NIMC, the pilot phase of the project begins the largest rollout of a biometric-based verification card with an electronic payment solution in the country and the broadest financial inclusion programme in Africa.
The eID card has been deployed by as part of the NIMC’s mandate to create, maintain and operate the country's first central National Identity Database and provide proof of identity to Nigerians over the age of 16.
The cards contain 13 applications, including MasterCard's prepaid payment technology and Cryptovision's biometric identification technology, and is seeking to provide banking services to millions of previously unserved Nigerians.
President Jonathan said: “I am happy that this important milestone of the rollout of the National Identity Management System has been realised today. I am impressed with the quality of the eID card and the work of the corporate partners that made it possible. I commend especially MasterCard, and Access Bank Plc, as well as the Commission [NIMC] for achieving a world-class product.”
The NIMC is working with several government agencies to integrate and harmonise all identity databases, including the Driver's License, Voter Registration, Health Insurance, Tax, SIM and the National Pension Commission (PENCOM), into a single, shared services platform.
“The National eID programme enables us to create an optimised common platform for Nigerian citizens to easily interact with the various government agencies and to transact electronically,” said Chris Onyemenam, director general and chief executive officer (CEO) of the NIMC.
“There are many use cases for the card, including the potential to use it as an international travel document, which will have significant implications for border control in Nigeria and West Africa.”
Daniel Monehin, division president of Sub-Saharan Africa at MasterCard, said the launch was a memorable occasion for the company.
“Combining an identity card with MasterCard's prepaid payment capability creates a game changer as it breaks down one of the most significant barriers to financial inclusion - proof of identity - while simultaneously enabling Nigerians to access the global economy,” he said.
Monehin added the broader economic impact of the card will see previously unbanked and under-banked Nigerians able to gain access to the mainstream economy, build a financial history and establish credit-worthiness with banks and other financial institutions.
Nigerians can use the eID card to deposit funds, receive social benefits, save, or engage in many other financial transactions that are facilitated by electronic payments.
The card is also able to withdraw cash at millions of merchants and ATMS that accept MasterCard payment cards in Nigeria and in more than 210 countries and territories globally.

JUSTIN BIEBER CHARGED WITH ASSAULT IN CANADA...(READ MORE)...

Justin Bieber was arrested on assault and dangerous driving charges stemming from an alleged fight after his ATV collided with a mini-van in Canada Friday, a police spokesman confirmed.
The alleged incident happened on a road in Perth County, Ontario, the community where Bieber, 20, lived as a child.
"Investigation revealed that after colliding, the driver of the ATV and an occupant of the minivan engaged in a physical altercation," Ontario Provincial Police spokesman Kees Wijnands said.
Bieber's lawyer said the singer was being chased by people with cameras when the incident happened.
Bieber was enjoying a "peaceful retreat" at his father's home when it was interrupted by paparazzi, the lawyer said.
Bieber, who is already facing an assault charge in Toronto, was released on "a promise to appear" and ordered to answer the charges at a hearing in Stratford, Ontario, on September 29, Constable Wijnands said.
The alleged victims of Bieber's assault wasted no time in lawyering up against the singer. They hired Los Angeles lawyer Gloria Allred, who also represents a woman who complained to police that Bieber assaulted her at a Hollywood tourist spot when she tried to take a photo of him with her cell phone.
"This is a serious matter that could have an impact on Mr. Bieber's probation status in California," Allred."I have also made contact on my clients' behalf with the Hollywood Branch of the Los Angeles police department  to make them aware of these new charges."
The young singer is on probation in Los Angeles for a vandalism conviction that resulted from his admission that he egged a neighbor's home last January. It would be up to a California judge to decide if the Canadian arrest warrants a probation revocation hearing, according to the spokeswoman for the Los Angeles prosecutor.
Justin Bieber pleads no contest in egging case, gets probation
Bieber made a $50,000 donation to a youth charity as part of a plea deal to settle a Miami drunken driving case last month.

SEE WHAT MERCY JOHNSON HAS TO SAY ABOUT GENEVIEVE NNAJI.

I like Genevieve like crazy. So, I started watching her movies from the onset. But I didn't want to be Genevieve, I wanted to be a Mercy with the motivation that a Genevieve could give me.
The first time I met her, my friend took me there. When we got to where she was, I became Nervous. I jumped into my friend's boot. So, when she came out of the hotel, I could only hear her voice.
The second time I saw her was on set. When she came down and I met her , she said ahh! Mercy I like your movies, and i started crying.
I was in tears of joy. I said Aunty Genevieve, so you watch my movies. She was sort of embarrased. Before I met her, she had already known that there was somebody who was crazily insane about her.
She was really nice to me and receptive.
