At lesst 10 persons were trapped inside a collapsed two-storey building on
11 Sand Beach Lane, off Alonge Street in Oworonshoki, Lagos
State, yesterday. The incident occurred around 11am.
The Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA)
successfully rescued all trapped persons from the fallen structure
and saw them to hospitals for medical attention. Most of those
trapped included teenagers who were hired to work on the
building. The owner and contractor of the structure fled when the
building collapsed.
The building was reported to have caved in owing to a weak
foundation.
