A Syrian military jet has been shot down near the border with Turkey, activists and local reports say.
The incident reportedly took place in an area where Syrian rebels and government forces have been fighting for control of a border crossing.
It was not immediately clear who was responsible for downing the plane.
Hundreds of thousands of people have fled Syria for Turkey to escape the three-year uprising against the rule of President Bashar al-Assad.
